Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work

A reflection on the teaching

The image invites parents to reconsider the word interruption. A child's need may interrupt a task, yet responding to the child is also part of the responsibility we have chosen. That perspective can change the tone of a moment without requiring unlimited availability. Parents still need work, rest and boundaries. A useful response may be to give brief undivided attention, explain when we can help, or involve another caregiver. The question is how to treat the child as a person within the competing demands. The artwork names EPIC Family, not an individual author.
