Nesivos Shalom: What Will You Take From Shabbos?

A Chassidic man stands beside a warmly lit holiday table overlooking Jerusalem, with Hebrew and English text on carrying Shabbos forward.

עַל זֹאת יִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל חָסִיד
אֵלֶיךָ לְעֵת מְצֹא

For this, every chassid should pray to You, at the time of finding.
— Tehillim 32:6

“לעת מצוא” refers to Motzaei Shabbos and Motzaei Yom Tov. A person should daven:
What am I taking with me from this Shabbos, from this Yom Tov?

A reflection on the teaching

The image pairs words from Tehillim with a reflection attributed to Nesivos Shalom at Ne'ilas HaChag. The question is what remains with us when Shabbos or Yom Tov ends. Inspiration may fade unless we give one part of it a place in the coming week. We can choose a small practice, a thought to revisit or a way of treating someone that we want to carry forward. Before returning to weekday activity, name one thing you received and one action that will help preserve it. The printed interpretation is distinct from the verse itself.

Source note: The Hebrew excerpt was checked against Tehillim 32:6. The application to Motzaei Shabbos and Yom Tov is attributed to Nesivos Shalom on the image and has not been independently verified.
