The Lelover Rebbe: Giving Tomorrow a Purpose

An older Chassidic man reads a sefer overlooking Jerusalem, with a Lelover Rebbe quote about tomorrow.

If you are exactly the same person today as you were yesterday, then why do you need tomorrow?

A reflection on the teaching

Tomorrow gives us another opportunity to grow. The question printed here is deliberately sharp, but growth need not be dramatic to count. We may be learning patience through a difficult day or slowly becoming more dependable. Sometimes the progress is visible only when we look back over time. Rather than demanding a new personality every morning, we can choose one thing to practice. At the end of the day, ask what we learned and where we made a more thoughtful choice. That gives tomorrow a direction without turning today into a verdict.
